Edwards, Henrietta Muir: 1849-1931. Born Montreal; with sister founded Working Girl's Association, 1875, and later the first Canadian magazine for working women, Working Woman of Canada; financed magazine by selling her paintings and miniatures; married physician Oliver Cromwell Edwards (1850-1915) and had three children; moved to Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, 1882; with Lady Aberdeen founded National Council of Women, 1893, and Victorian Order of Nurses, 1897; moved to Stand Off, Alberta, 1901; convenor of laws of National Council of Women for 38 years; one of "Famous Five" who instigated the appeal to the Privy Council which gave women the right to sit in the Senate of Canada; avid supporter of equal grounds for divorce, reform of the prison system, and mothers' allowances; died at Macleod, Alberta. // Also published, 2nd edition, [Edmonton?]: Issued by and under the authority of the Attorney-General, 1921 (80p.). // Digitization of this title was sponsored by the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta to commemorate the service of Ms. Navneet Khinda, Member of the Board, 2015-2016
